Project Size: 2,300 square feet

Our client sought to build a home on this waterfront property in the Gulf Islands to eventually become a year-round residence. The post and beam house is set on a gentle slope, surrounded by dense woods with a wonderful waterfront view. Generous floor-to-ceiling heights and large areas of fenestration provide ideal conditions for the display of art and sculpture. The interior finishes are purposely kept spare to provide a more neutral backdrop for artwork; cedar-clad ceilings and white-painted gypsum walls lend the space a clean, modern finish. Standing-seam metal roofs house three linked elements: a main living area, a master bedroom and a guest bedroom. Adjacent to the living room, large sliding doors open onto a timber deck that overlooks the Strait of Georgia.
