Project Size: 3,900 square feet
Project Completion: 2007
It was important for the client to create a home that would have a strong sense of structure, permanence and utility akin to that of the cottage craft vernacular of west coast vacation cottages. It was also important that the retreat provide generous and informal spaces for gatherings of family and friends that would reflect and embrace strong connections to outdoor living and beach activities on the property.
The home features two interconnected pavilions containing bedrooms and a great room, respectively. A sky lit entry foyer bridges the two and creates a transitional space between the indoors and outdoors. From here, one may access either pavilion, the auto court or proceed towards a covered terrace that overlooks Howe Sound and provides beach access.
