Project Size: 4,200 square feet
The client asked Brad Lamoureux Architect to design a Craftsman style home for this stunning property in West Vancouver. The presence of natural materials can be felt throughout; oak floors and wall paneling provide wonderful textures for the play of light while the exterior is handsomely clad in cedar shingles. Exposed structural elements and coffered ceilings create visual interest and decorative detail in the ceiling plane. In addition, light fixtures act as design elements and emphasize the verticality of the living spaces.
Light figures prominently in the character of the spaces within the house. A south facing elevation features full-height glazing, flooding the living room, dining room and kitchen with natural light. An impressive gabled roof extends outwards providing sun shading for the interior and creating shade for the terrace beneath. From here, panoramic views of the garden and forest beyond can be taken in. |
