Project Size: 4,800 square feet
Project Completion: 2004
In order to maximize opportunities inherent in the site, the client requested that the primary living spaces be located on the topmost floor to best exploit dramatic views. An expressive butterfly roof over clerestory windows directs views to the North Shore Mountains. The entire upper floor makes up a great room comprising living, dining, and kitchen all of which have a direct link to outdoor spaces on both sides of the house; a dining terrace and spa garden in the rear yard and a large cantilevered deck on exposed wood beams at the front. A concrete garage roof serves as a landscaped garden accessible from the main floor bedrooms via a connecting bridge that obscures less than desirable foreground views of structures across a narrow street.
