Project Size: 3950 sq ft.
Project Completion: 2005
Located on a winding street in West Vancouver’s British Properties, this unique contemporary home sits at the break between the property’s plateau and the steeper sloped frontage, creating a dramatic oblique uphill approach to the home and maximizing the level area for the rear yard garden.
The most significant and exciting feature of this home’s design is the monolithic roof; a single gently tilted plane that, at its high end, shelters the two-story bedroom and support spaces to the West, and at its low end creates a double-height volume containing living, dining and kitchen spaces.
While the roof itself is left as a largely unarticulated surface, the rhythm of the building’s structure is left evident in the exposed slender H-Section columns that support it.
